Endless Nights Roguelike Help

Endless Nights extends the idea of roguelike games to include a whole world with random NPCs and quests alongside procedurally created dungeons. Each time you start a new character, the main quest line you follow and even the end boss you will face (should you get that far!) will be different. Other than that, the game plays like most roguelikes with a twist on how character advancement works.

Endless Nights Help: The Basics

On the PC, movement can be achieved through the standard WASD movement or using the movement keys on the numpad.

Abilities can be selected by typing #1 through #8, which will correspond with the ability on the right.

Ranged abilities will show a highlight on the targeted monster if one is within range. You can change the target by pressing the TAB key, and you can execute the ability by pressing the ENTER key.

On iPhone, iPad or Android devices, a movement pad is displayed on the screen, or you can tap the map in the direction you want to go. Abilities are used by touching them and then tapping the monster you want to target.

Endless Nights Skill System

Your character will progress based on how often they use certain skills. This includes any time you swing a weapon for the Offense skill and any time you are attacked for the Defense skill.

As your skill increases, you will be presented with new abilities. Some of these abilities offer the chance to increase in a new skill. These abilities are highlighted in orange and become blue when they are learned.

The more you use, the more you learn, the more new abilities will be offered.

Endless Nights Combat

Melee hinges on breaking through your opponent’s defense. Beyond armor, this includes their ability to block, parry or dodge your attacks. Both melee combat and magic spells will play a role in these defenses. Some magic spells can be blocked, a few can be parried, and all magic spells can potentially be dodged.

When the monster you are fighting has used all its defenses, it is vulnerable. And the same applies to you. On screen, when one of these defenses is green, it is ready to be used. If it is gray, it has been recently used and needs more time to refresh.

This creates a new dynamic for the delay associated with your weapons. You should also pay attention to the time needed to cast spells. Faster casting spells will use up the opponent’s defenses quicker.

Endless Nights Crafting

As you adventure, you may find differently colored gems. These can be used in the crafting system to create magic weapons, shields or armor.

But you don’t need a gem to craft. Even without a gem, you can create better equipment through the crafting system, which means you aren’t completely dependent on good item drops on your adventures.

Endless Nights Character Profiles

When you create a new character, your first choice will be choosing a profile for your character. Each profile comes with its own bonuses. For example, the Races profile is the only way to play as a non-human and even offers some exotic races. Meanwhile, the collector will keep most of the gems they find even after death, which is perfect for getting a quick start on crafting.

The hardcore profile is the only one that doesn’t come with a benefit. It is intended for that “true” roguelike experience, but to be honest, the other profiles can be very fun.
